Two of Thailand’s major energy companies—PTT and Bangchak—announced a reduction in diesel fuel prices, a move that will take effect from 5:00 a.m. on June 11. This adjustment comes as part of ongoing efforts to ease the burden of fuel costs on consumers amid fluctuating global oil markets.
According to the announcement, the retail price of standard diesel will be reduced by 40 satang per liter, while the price of premium diesel will see a larger cut of one baht per liter. Following the adjustment, Bangchak’s retail price for Hi Diesel S will stand at 40.80 baht per liter, with High Premium Diesel Plus priced at 56.25 baht per liter. PTT’s retail prices mirror these figures, with standard diesel at 40.80 baht per liter and Super Power Diesel at 56.25 baht per liter.
This price reduction reflects the companies’ response to both domestic economic pressures and international energy trends. Rising oil prices globally have contributed to inflationary concerns, particularly in the United States, where inflation has recently reached a three-year high. The surge in oil costs has also driven increased demand for gold as a safe-haven asset, underscoring the interconnectedness of energy markets and broader economic stability.
