Turkish Aerospace Eyes Kertajati as Indonesia’s Emerging Aircraft Assembly Hub

Turkish Aerospace has set its sights on Kertajati in Majalengka, West Java, as a potential hub for aircraft manufacturing and assembly. The move, revealed during the Indonesia Aerospace Ecosystem Forum (IAEF) 2026 in Bandung, underscores the company’s ambition to strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global aerospace supply chain. According to Adi Aviantoro, Managing Director of PT Turkish Aerospace Indonesia, several regions are being considered for expansion, but Kertajati stands out thanks to its facilities and strategic potential.

The company’s interest is not only in infrastructure but also in human capital. Bandung, with its strong academic tradition in aerospace engineering, offers a pool of skilled talent that could support the industry’s growth. This aligns with Turkish Aerospace’s broader strategy to establish Indonesia as a key center in Southeast Asia for engineering services and industrial partnerships.

Emrah Ekri, Industrialization Operations Manager at Turkish Aerospace, highlighted Indonesia’s competitive workforce, growing industrial capabilities, and strategic geographic position as major advantages. He emphasized that with the right ecosystem, Indonesia could play a more significant role in the global aerospace industry.

The IAEF 2026 itself served as a platform to bring together government agencies, industry leaders, academics, and international partners. Stakeholders such as Bappenas, GMF AeroAsia, and PT Bandarudara Internasional Jawa Barat joined discussions on how Indonesia can leverage its manufacturing capacity, skilled workforce, and emerging national companies to meet the world’s growing demand for aircraft. The forum reflected a strong collective commitment to advancing Indonesia’s aerospace industry and positioning it as a competitive player on the international stage.
